  • [cisco] : --- is a fabulous latin secret
  • [cisco] : Nice seeing everyone again. Thx to Natasha for sharing her story.
  • [guest m] : «link»
  • [Smoov P] : www.change.org
  • [guest_3128] : he was bad news from the start
  • [guest m] : I know there was something playing in his mind saying, "What I'm doing isn't right at all"
  • [cisco] : The eternal paradox of Mental state. There will never be an ifalible system because you are dealing with human beings not robots.
  • [cisco] : so many red flags geez.
  • [guest_5525] : The real problem is the Adults.
  • [guest_5525] : *woman
  • [guest_5525] : I agree with the women...I see it all the time...These kids are off the hook and they know the system...One client told me "You can't do anything to me."
  • [cisco] : And i meant defense,
  • [cisco] : Sorry >.>
  • [cisco] : Agreed. Persecution would only have to plant a seed to the jury that he didnt intend to hurt the child and just make her cry and everything else would snowball from there. Thats where our law falls short there is such a huge grey area in regards to mental state at the moment of a crime.
  • [guest m] : It might not have been his intention to hurt her, but you should know if you hit a baby as hard as he did, she/he would continue to cry
  • [guest_5525] : I work with DYFS and they are overloaded with cases similar to this one. Our kids are lost and it is so so sad...
  • [cisco] : The moment a juvenile commits such a horrendous crime, he gives up his innocence in my eyes regardless of the reason (mental, anger, etc) He is no longer considered a kid for me.
  • [guest_5525] : Still no excuse for violence but the real issue is mental health with our youth.
  • [cisco] : Not everyone is created equal though, and just because you are able to stop and restrain yourself, not everyone can. Some people lose all control. I agree on the disconnection.
  • [guest m] : That still is no excuse
  • [guest_5525] : Too many of our youth have anger and emotional issues...A lot have been children of parents on drugs.
  • [guest m] : 19
  • [cisco] : ok thx how old was the mom?
  • [guest m] : Everyone's action should be accounted for, no matter what the age is. Madison was my niece and she is no longer here.
  • [Supes] : Facebook page is In Loving Memory of Madison Marie
  • [Supes] : There is a facebook page for Madiosn. Please visit it and offer your support to the family.
  • [Supes] : Madison was murdered by her mothers 15 yr old boyfriend. He beat her to death
  • [cisco] : i joined late can someone tell me what happened to madison please?

  • [guest_7522] : I think the racial comments about how white ppl deal with marriage and divorce vs black people are a bit far fetched.
  • [guest_9354] : Blacks are too emotionally involved with marriage...It is a business relationship for white people. heard that from several white men with my own ears!
  • [Hassan] : For the record,I did not write the bible,but a married woman cannot say NO!!! 1 Corinithians ( Chapter 7 )( Verse 1 - 16 )
  • [guest_7522] : but that's not a color thing...watch Maury...all races ack a fool!
  • [guest_7522] : switch the camera...
  • [guest_7522] : That completely dilutes the strength of the family.

Should Juvenile Offenders Be Tried As Adults For Crimes?|Special Guest: Attorney Steven E. Savage

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A JUVENILE AND ADULT CASE

Madison Jade Spearman was born September 24, 2010 and she departed this life August 15, 2011 at 11 months old.  Madison died from injuries she sustained at the hands of a 15 year old male that beat her because he grew tired of her crying. The young man that murdered Madison is about to be sentenced to 4 years in prison for Aggravated Man Slaughter.  Four years for taking the life of this baby. Madison’s family fights for a just sentence  that fits the crime.

This story raises many questions about trying juveniles as adults when they commit a serious crime.  The Live in the Vocal Booth team looks at Punishment vs Rehabilitation and when should we seek stiffer penalties for Juveniles. Join us “Live in the Vocal Booth” as we discuss this very serious issue.  Call in 646-233-1302 or Jump in chat because at bks1radio.com your voice matters.

Special Guest: Attorney Steven E. Savage

Steven E. Savage is a Newark, NJ-based criminal defense attorney who specializes in serious criminal cases in New York and New Jersey state and federal courts. A graduate of Cornell Law School and Columbia University Graduate School of Business, Mr. Savage remains committed to the community at-large by performing significant pro bono services and volunteer work, and serving as counsel to Occupy Newark. Even on nights and weekends, he writes and publishes legal articles and answers legal questions for those who log onto www.avvo.com.

When his firm, The Law Offices of Steven E. Savage, represents a criminal defendant whether of color or otherwise, he and his colleagues always strive to offer sensitive counsel with an eye toward ensuring that Justice truly is blind. He says, “Juvenile Justice is particularly important in this regard. Because the law tends to punish juveniles of color significantly more brutally than other minors, someone has to fight to preserve the lives of these often misguided souls.”

Tonight's Topic: Ending It All - Part II

It's the most haunting news you'll ever hear, and unfortunately we've all heard it before.  Someone has committed suicide.  Tonight, we're tackling an issue most shows won't even touch.  When someone takes their own life, the questions as to why stop you in your tracks.  What kind of pain can drive someone to take their own lives?  Why didn't they reach out to someone for help?  How do you pick up the broken pieces and carry on?

Join us as we have a heart-to-heart about losing loved ones who couldn't defeat their demons.  We will discuss how depression can drive someone to a choice they feel is the only way to escape their inner turmoil. We'll also learn how the statistics stack up demographically in our society when it comes to suicide.  Does it affect one race, gender, or age group over another?  Listen in as we talk to family and friends who have been left behind in the aftermath of such a devastating loss.  Most importantly, share your own stories of how suicide has affected your life.  Are you contemplating ending it all?  While you may be hurting, we want to help.   Tonight on "Live in the Vocal Booth".

Call 646-233-1302 with your thoughts, opinions or tell us if you have battled through these issues or currently battling with them. Your story and experience may help out someone who is going through them. Join the BKS1 Radio experience!
